Update on our Kickstarter 10 Battle Mat Escape Rooms

Jo, our Logistics Manager, talks about how the latest DR Games and Dark Realm Roleplay Kickstarter is coming along. Digital rewards have been sent and the physical product is on the way. Jo explains. 10 Battle Mat Escape Rooms So, the Kickstarter has finished, and it has been a great success, surpassing our expectations. Now the fun part begins, having it printed, but who would have thought that could prove such a challenge. We had gone to our regular printers for the initial quote, but now we wanted to check board thickness, to laminate or not to laminate, whether it was worth it to collate and cellophane wrap, what box size would we need. All the details that I love sorting out, and these were all agreed pretty quickly. The maps were coming along nicely, and we would soon be ready to have a test copy printed. So far so good, but our regular printer did not do punch boards for the tokens from the stretch goals. So, time to find another printer. This proved much more of a challenge...

A Week on from the Kickstarter

It is Tuesday the 5 th of May and a week after the Kickstarter ended. It feels like a month! But we have another week until Kickstarter completes the transactions and I can send out all the Dark Force Incursion Expansion goodies. I have been working on the stretch goals and their design, much of which is finished, although the wasteland designs are taking a bit longer. I have been pleased to see that we have had some coverage on several blogs: Charmstone Games were first to the post with their article “A Non-RPG Review? Dark Force Incursion,” which takes an interesting look at how DFI could be used in an RPG setting  https://charmstonegames.com/a-non-rpg-review-dark-force-incursion/ Lightheart Adventures put together an excellent interview where I talk about DFI and our collaboration: https://www.lightheartadventures.com/product-spotlight/interview-with-dark-realm-maps/ A positive article appeared at Boards and Bees: https://boardsandbees.wordpress....

Finding DR Games

Before I knew what was happening kind folk were sharing my designs and drawings across Twitter and I was blown away by the interest. This was something I loved doing. I am an artist with a long term interest in Board Games and RPGs as well as extensive video gaming experience. I have been to a thousand worlds, played a thousand characters, completed a thousand quests and live a thousand stories. And here I was able to create maps which tap into all of this. For me becoming Dark Realm Maps seemed like a natural move. With my maps I was creating fantasy worlds which I could draw a whole bunch of supportive people into. What a great place to be! I began to realise that core to Dark Realm Maps is narrative. My drawing style is punctuated by detail. I add objects, furniture, atmosphere, clues, diso...
