Kickstarter Notify Me Page…do we advertise it?

It has been months in the making but now finally our card game Trade Nation is on Kickstarter. Well, I mean the notify page is up so people can go there, click on the notify me button, and they will receive an email when the project goes live on Tuesday. Of course, this whole process brings a certain amount of trepidation. It has been interesting setting up the Preview page because it raises a number of questions about how you run a campaign. It’s great to be able to pick up the clicks before the actual campaign goes live, so as I said before people receive their notifications, but do you actually advertise the notify me page or do you wait until the actual campaign goes live? It is a bit of a conundrum. I have put out a Facebook advert pushing the notify page but have decided to wait on the rest of my advertising budget for when the page actually goes live. I really do not know if this is a mistake and I am very curious as to what the standard conversion rate is for notify me clic...

The Bones of KalKratha

We have just recently launched a new projected on Kickstarter called The Bones of KalKratha. This is our first Roleplay Kickstarter. I’m going to talk about how this fits into our business model that so far evolves around making our own games. I have always taken a great interest in Dungeon and Dragons. I played it from the age of ten although admittedly I took a long break while I traveled and my children were young. Through Dark Realm Maps, the forerunner to the company, I created maps for fantasy games and became embroiled in these fantasy worlds and it was not long before I started writing as well. Some of these went up on DMsguild and I realised a larger product was on the cards. So, I combined the maps and the writing to create my first roleplay based Kickstarter under my Dark Realm Roleplay banner a sister to Dark Realm Maps and DR Games. This is basically an expansion of the company model. The way we see things moving forward is to have some clear division between...

Dark Force Incursion Expansions Launched to Quick Success

DFI came about through an unusual set of circumstances at a strange time, that I discuss in a previous post. But it was solid and reliable with a core set of rules and maps and could be download for free from my website. Yet, as if out of control, the game began to take on a life of its own in my mind. I imagined new land features, hex tiles, expansion rules and maps. I think that, for me, any creation is never truly complete, they just keep on growing, expanding, and ultimately opening new gaming choices.   Pretty quickly I set about writing the rules and drawing the land features for the new maps and expansions. It presented as a series of updates with new landscapes that would be interesting to experience in their own hex maps. This presented as four distinct expansions that would work nicely as pledge levels…yes, I began to think Kickstarter. I had established a presence on Board Game Geek and the free core rules were out there for people to play and they had. I w...
